Where do you work?
I am the Founder and Principal Consultant at Brave Path Strategies, a consulting firm that specializes in challenging the status quo by collaborating with organizations and communities to address gender and racial inequities head-on. We do this through robust community engagement, effective program design and development grounded in those most impacted, leadership in policy and advocacy, strategic planning, and training and technical assistance.

How long have you been involved with Women Unite!?
I joined the board in March 2024.

What do you like most about WU!?
I was drawn to WU! because of the organization’s focus and mission grounded in women-led leadership, programming, and community change. At a time when the rights of women and non-binary individuals are on the chopping block, the work WU! is doing to elevate and scale important work to resist such efforts is critical.

What’s an issue that you care deeply about?
I care deeply about addressing gender-based violence because it is both a product of systemic oppression and a tool that sustains oppression.

What’s a hobby you have?
A lesson I learned about myself when I entered my sabbatical era: I don’t have a hobby.

What gives you hope?
Young people—they are truly driving so much change in communities, it is inspiring to see and learn from them.

How have you been getting through the fall of late-stage capitalism?
I recently took a sabbatical after leaving a four-year stint in the Mayor’s Office. I found deep healing and rejuvenation in stepping away from the grind and the urgency that is deeply engrained in us. I have enjoyed reading more—both fiction and non-fiction, binging shows like Good Trouble and One Day, moving my body, and spending more time with my 5-year-old twin boys.

Fun/random fact you want to share?
I am originally from New Hampshire—a state with a motto that is “Live Free or Die” and has one area code. I know, it’s bizarre.

What’s one of your favorite local Chicago businesses?
Women and Children First and Unabridged for bookstores. I love good breweries and some favorites are Begyle Brewery and Hopewell. The mom in me has to shout out the women-owned toy store, Play.
